The Rupununi Ranchers Rodeo, so named because of its history, is organized by the RLPA and has become an important annual event on the national calendar. The event is a major fundraiser for the association and is the biggest event on the calendar for the Rupununi Region and a peak for businesses (hotels, accommodation, restaurants etc) in the region. It is held annually for 2 days over the Easter weekend.
The rodeo, having its genesis after the annual roundup of cattle by cattle ranches around the Rupununi, was first held at Pirara Ranch, then moved to the Government owned “Stock Farm” at St Ignatius.
The Rodeo then moved to this site (the Rupununi Ranchers’Rodeo ground) in Tabatinga in the mid 1980’s, when organizers began to set up basic infrastructure for arena and holding pens. the area consequently occupied by the rodeo site is approximately 50 acres.
The RLPA is committed to celebrating the people, animals, land and values that make up the Rupununi through this event. The Rupununi Ranchers Rodeo highlights this unique lifestyle which is still vibrant in many parts of the Rupununi.
Rupununi Ranchers' RODEO is an annual event held at the Triple R Arena, in Tabatinga Lethem, Guyana, South America. Currently we are unable to say definitively if we will be hosting Rodeo 2022 due to the ongoing Covid-19 Pandemic. We will keep you informed of our decisions as we continue to monitor these uncertain times.
