RLPA launches a “local feed” low cost/no cost feed competition in seven (7) Villages in the Rupununi.

The RLPA Launches “local feed” low cost /no cost feed in 7 communities (Nappi, Hiowa, Parishara, Kumu, Quarrie, Moco Moco, and St. Ignatius Village).  A total of 70 chicks were distributed to 10 farmers from each Village who were chosen to be part of the competition by the Village Council.

The local feed challenge is ongoing and so is the monitoring of farmers and what they are feeding their chickens.  Weight gain will be monitored by the RLPA’s Project team every 2 weeks where visit farms to weigh chickens and to assist in any way needed.

The aim behind this challenge is to encourage poultry farming and to assist the less fortunate farmers to be self-sustainable.

Many thanks to the Sustainable Wildlife Management Programme – Guyana for making these activities possible.
